Echuca - ALACS Results

Top  Previous  Next

This year the ALACS were held at Echuca. It was good to see that we were well represented again and that we made a good showing. Four aircraft flew over, two C172's from the club, the Musketeer and Rick Gumley's P68.

Our thanks go to Frank Liebfried who spent many hours organising the accommodation, transport and last buit not least the financing and costing of the expedition.

The following members attended and competed:

Ed Ten Broeke, Graeme Martin, David Chalk, Peter Waite, Bernie Samms, John Broadhead, , Darryl Scurr,

Mal Steane, Andrew Jordan.

Rick Gumley, Greg Walker and Fank Liebfried also came of for the fun of it but didn't compete. (Well actually Frank spent most of the time organising things for the rest of us!). My wife and daughter, Frances & Hannah, also drove up from Melbourne to support the team.

Our placings:

1st in spot landing : Mal Steane

2nd in streamer cutting : Ed ten Broeke

Congratulations to all who took part and particularly Mal Steane and Ed Ten Broeke. Mal took first place in the spot landing competition and received a huge cheer from the crowd at the dinner when prizes were presented. Ed took second place in the streamer cut, just being pipped by Rod Garnaut of RACWA by less than 1%.

We did fairly well in the overall rankings with four pilots in the top 10 out of the 17 who were in the running for overall champion.

Ed Ten Broeke : 5th Place

Graeme Martin : 6th place

Peter Waite : 7th place

Mal Steane : 9th place

Congratulations to Peta Garnaut of RACWA who took the overall champion prize.

The trip over was great fun, especially the flight over and back. We all enjoyed it and had a great time. I haven't had time to write it all up yet - maybe next issue of ESpinber.
